On Baking Lesson

7 07 2008

It’s been quite sumtime that I wish to learn on how to properly bake cakes. And at last, after exchanging few emails, I finally got myself to attend a class with Kak Yasmin in KL. Cik Nott was supposed to joined me but due to certain unavoided circumtances, she decided to pass this one. Maybe later, dear.

The journey to Kak Yasmin’s place was a total chaos. Being the absent-minded me, I forgot to bring back the map to her place. Luckily I’ve got Kak Zu to provide me the infos. It was confusing and we’ve got to call Kak Yasmin for help and directions. The bad traffic in KL worsen the conditions even more. Huh! I hate traffic jam.

Just as expected, I arrived late at Kak Yasmin’s place. Quickly put on my Anakku apron and dash to the kitchen to start learning. There I met Meera – a student from UKM. We never met and yet we feel so close. Weird. I did not feel awkward at all. Surprise, surprise.

Kak Yasmin’s way of teaching is so easy to follow. Step-by-step. She gave us tips from time to time. Tak kedekut ilmu langsung! Do check out her work here. So cool! In a nutshell, I feel that this basic class is worth of the money spent. Seriously. The class is small, therefore you get the chance to interact well with each other and the opportunity to ask the guru lotsa quetions. I surely enjoyed the class. Very much.

So here are some pictures of my first cake and cupcakes.

The clown hanging on the balloons

The dreamy pink clown

Such a colourful cake indeed

Rumah Terbuka

13 11 2006

The rumah terbuka held at Haji Rafidi’s house in Bandar Seri Putra was awesome as I got the chance to team up with my former collegues. Even though it was raining cats and dogs, we still managed to find our way there. The foods served were delicious. There were many to choose from; nasi dagang, laksa Johor, rendang darat, lontong, cakes, biscuits and fruits. I picked laksa Johor as my first serving since it’s been quite sometime I haven’t eaten spaghetti! Yummy… Haji Rafidi’s wife urged us to taste her rendang darat. Attracted by the name and the look, I helped my self with the dish. It tasted differently though, not as I expected. At first I thought that it will be spicy, but to my surprise it was not at all. All I can say was, it tasted great!

On Sunday, we received another invitation to attend Sham’s rumah terbuka. Sham has always been Zam’s best bud, therefore it felt like an obligation for us to be there. We went there at approximately 2.00pm as we needed to wait up for the rest of the groups to arrive. I was glad that Zam got to meet his old friends and I got to meet new ones. All of us chatted like we’ve known each other for years. Hmm, what I liked most at Sham’s house was the pudding. Yup! It tasted really good and Aypol agreed too. I just can’t help to get another after another servings.

After spending almost two hours there, we dissmissed at around 4.30 pm. Aypol and Zool went to Darul Ehsan Club for another rumah terbuka, Alias and Fadhil went to their next destination and me and Zam went shopping for dinner. It was such a lovely weekend and I’m loving every moment!

Beautiful Thoughts

5 10 2006

We’re planning to go back to Hometown tonight, at least I’ve got to spend some time with my mom-in-law cause there’s no way that I’ll be able to fasting in Kedah. I’ve bought some meat and pucuk paku for Mak to cook during our sahur tomorrow or perhaps for the Ifhtar later. Zam has bought some kain ela for Mak and Not whereas I’m planning on persuading Mak and Ayah to go to Pekan Raub tomorrow. Hopefully they will choose something and I’ve got to pay for that. Yay! Can’t wait to be in Tersang for I’m looking forward to take some pictures of the beautiful lawn yard and the blooming bougainvillea flowers in various colours!

Raya Aura

3 10 2006

Hari Raya mood is in the air even though Muslims all over the world have been fasting for only a week++. There are definitely some changes happening in HR Department. For one thing, everybody starts to change their songs selection and play Raya songs in their Real Player. That’s including me. Ayue is no exception either, she even announces herself as the AJK for Publishing Bureau of Sports and Welfare Club which sells Hari Raya cards. And…guess what? As a good, loyal and kind hearted friend, Wardah and I willingly helped her by becoming a sort of agent; she will provide each of us few samples of the card and will increase the number once the cards are sold. Good enough for me because all I have to do is nothing. Just advertise the card on my cubicle partition. No big deal! Talking about changes, I also spotted some alarming changes among the staff. I noticed that some of them are sleepy most of the time. However, the work is super fine, especially when it is almost 4.30pm or 5.00pm. Surprisingly, the department is almost deserted after 5.00pm. A rare phenomenon indeed if it is not during fasting month. Now that most of the Goverment Servant changed their WP to WP1 or WP2, I find it stressful to ride back home before 5 o’clock. Inhaling black fumes from nature-unfriendly vehicles to tolerating the inconsiderate drivers, I’m getting tired easily. Therefore, I usually take my own sweet time to relax in the office for a while, just by making sure that I’ll reached home perfectly in time to perform Asar prayer and way before Zam arrives.

I think my baby agrees too…He just can’t stop kicking nowadays!
